Wanderer Wohnzimmer
2016
Wanderer Wohnzimmer was a collaboration with illustrator Rosemary Ferrier and was designed with inspiration from the forms, layers and colours evident in the work of Paul Klee (of whom there was an exhibition in Leipzig's Museum der bildenden Künste when we arrived in the city in 2015). The furniture was constructed using only materials available in local DIY stores or online, and only the hand tools and model making machines in our new studio. The resulting furniture is formed almost entirely from economically used 18mm Spruce boards, with simple slot together construction held in tension by straps. The furniture can be completely dis-assembled and flat-packed. The availability of this timber in DIY stores, the standard dimensions used and the simple method of manufacturing means, should a component be damaged, it can easily be re-made and replaced, wherever it ends up.
